Balloon Bar YQR Helps Events Soar
Regina-based sisters Tanna and Shayla Dietrich opened their custom balloon styling and design business Balloon Bar YQR in January 2018. They have since brought in Meaghan Jones as a third partner. Tanna describes the business as “a bit of a side hustle,” but definitely one that hit the ground running.
“Our typical clients seem to fall into three streams: corporate clients, event planners and non-profits, and friends and family-oriented celebrations like birthday parties, baby showers and graduations,” says Tanna.
Tanna cites a huge gallery installation of balloons at the MacKenzie Art Gallery as one of her favourite projects during their first year of business (the installation took three days to complete). She also really enjoys when balloons are used at a gender reveal party for parents-to-be.
Fortunately, while the Regina owners of the business Balloons & Designs by Fred are retired, the couple was still happy to provide support and guidance to the Balloon Bar YQR team. The partners have appreciated the entrepreneurial resources, support and networking opportunities provided through organizations such as Women Entrepreneurs of Saskatchewan (WESK), Square One Sask and Economic Development Regina Inc. (EDR). Audacity YQR is an initiative to nurture entrepreneurship in the Greater Regina Area that’s supported by EDR.
Balloon Bar YQR can provide its clients with custom balloon designs and themes, as well as offer traditional balloon styling. Clients like the creativity the team brings to each event and that Balloon Bar YQR is a local business.
