Decorate Your Home Warm & Moody
Are you feeling the itch to refresh your home? Interior decorator Jillian Bilawchuk believes the change of season creates a sense of change in our minds, making it a great time to play with decor. “You're starting to spend more time indoors,” says Jillian. “It’s a perfect time to organize and enhance your environment.”
As owner of the award-winning design firm and boutique Jillian’s Design Elements, Jillian offers consulting services as well as beautiful furnishings, home and giftware and fashion accessories. The boutique features a wide variety of decor styles, from contemporary to farmhouse chic and everything in between. “Most of our pieces are customizable in sizes, colours and finishes,” says Jillian, “giving a range of options tailored to the customer’s space.”
Fall and winter 2019 trends are leaning toward warm and moody hues such as olive, mustard, navy and cranberry. For a simple refresh, Jillian recommends bringing these hues in through accessories such as rugs, fur or velvet cushions, and artwork. “These are easy things to change out with very little effort, and can create a big impact in a space,” she adds.
For furnishings, Jillian’s Design Elements focuses on high-quality, Canadian made pieces from brands such as Van Gogh Designs, Stylus and Amisco. “We love taking statement pieces such as a chair or ottoman and putting them in a deep and moody colour,” she says, “which creates punch and drama in a neutral space.”
The consulting side of the business enables Jillian to help clients create their ideal space, whether it’s a one-hour paint consultation, designing an entire new home build, renovating an existing space, or simply just refreshing your décor. Working with a variety of styles and budgets, she provides the expertise to make her client’s dream space a reality.
