Grow Your Hair & Regain Confidence
“It’s just hair, it will grow back.” We’ve heard someone utter this phrase to us before — after a bad haircut, a dye job gone wrong or a bout of unhealthy hair treatments. But for thousands of individuals, the fear of their hair not growing back is a reality.
For HOPE Hair Recovery owner, Jennifer McCowan, hair was her career and her life. When she started noticing her hair was thinning in her mid-30s, she didn’t realize that time 50 per cent of it was likely already gone. As a hair stylist for more than 20 years, Jennifer used everything she could to stop her hair from falling out, but was told by a dermatologist that she would be bald by the age of 60.
In 2010, Jennifer’s life changed forever. A new mom of a five-week old infant and two-and-half-year- old, she received a call that her father had been killed in a car accident. The next 18 months were filled with tragedy and heartache with the passing of seven family members, a friend’s suicide, and the death of an adopted puppy during surgery. The stress manifested in Jennifer’s body and her health was in jeopardy. She developed suspicious lumps in both breasts along with two heart concerns, one of which would require open heart surgery.
Along with all the stress, Jennifer’s hair continued to get thinner. Determined to fix her own body without going under the knife, Jennifer developed a hunger for information and research. Her introduction to a hair growth shampoo sparked the well-known label of #shampoogeek and prompted her to become an affiliate of National Hair Loss — an organization dedicated to the latest research, cutting edge technologies and effective solutions for all types of hair loss.
Doing her research Jennifer learned about a new program — the first of its kind Canada — that treated autoimmune, genetic and chemo-induced hair loss with a staggering 98 per cent success rate. Used in Scottsdale, AZ and Beverly Hills, CA, Jennifer jumped on the opportunity to bring it to Saskatoon. Using her own journey as a catalyst and driving force behind her unique approach to hair loss, it has also given her the innate ability to relate and empathize with her clients.
Committed to helping others with their hair and confidence, she launched HOPE Hair Recovery (Hair Organization Pursuing & Providing Education) on August 1, 2018. This medical-grade device combines low level laser therapy and an at-home regime, and can only be obtained through Jennifer or a physician. The laser therapy stimulates cellular activity, opening the blood vessel and supplying each hair strand with nutrition — creating healthier, stronger and longer-lasting hair.
Jennifer can also provide hair analysis tests that pinpoint the toxins, invasive organisms and food intolerances that are contributing factors to hair loss, and offer a comprehensive review on how to remove the irritants that cause inflammation in the system.
