Photos & Video for Your Wedding Day
Saskatoon-based videographers Kyle Burgess and Allia Janzen are partners in business and in life. The couple has extensive experience in the film and television industry — including work for CBC, Citytv, ESPN, HBO and NBC.
Now in their third year, Whiskey & Wildflowers has documented weddings, anniversaries and other exceptional family events, providing their clients with touching cinematic videos that include all the best moments of their special day. They also provide a three-minute teaser video within a week of the event.
Beyond local weddings, Whiskey & Wildflowers also travels with couples for destination weddings. They most recently filmed in Jamaica where Kyle and Allia provided both photography and videography for the lucky couple — capturing the essence of the entire trip and not just the wedding ceremony.
Kyle is Whiskey & Wildflowers’ director of photography and producer, whereas Allia provides direction and creative styling for each couple. “Our process is to meet with the couple for an initial consultation to find out what they like and don’t like in videos that they’ve seen. Each couple we work with needs to be a good fit with our approach to the day,” says Kyle.
Filming a wedding is about families, and Whiskey & Wildflowers embodies this as a combined family effort. Teenage sons Aidan and Justin are often there assisting as additional camera operators and learning the craft of cinematography. This comes in especially handy when transporting film gear, as well as reducing the overall cost of destination weddings — savings that Kyle and Allia happily pass on to their clients.
“Allia and I both have backgrounds in documentary film, so we have that professional experience plus we own all the gear — camera, lights, wireless microphones and everything,” explains Kyle.
Whiskey & Wildflowers licenses music for each video based on the couple’s character and what is the best fit for them. Kyle and Allia focus on bringing out the individual personalities of the couple in their videos. They also like to incorporate special elements such as wedding vows read out loud, scenic rural backdrops and vintage cars.
Clients express a great appreciation of Kyle and Allia for their personable, fun and thoughtful approach, and the high-quality cinematography of their wedding videos. “The day can be such a blur for the bride and groom. It’s great to have an entertaining video to look back at and remember the countless moments they have shared. The right photographer and videographers will help make the day seamless and stress-free,” Kyle adds.
Whiskey & Wildflowers is still taking bookings for summer and fall 2019, as well as bookings for 2020.
