New Year’s Eve is a time for celebrating the year gone by and all that is to come in the days and months ahead. This year, make the start of 2020 memorable by taking in a local event with friends and family. There are plenty of options in Regina and Saskatoon for how to celebrate, whether you’re into a fancy, formal evening or something more casual and relaxing. 2020 Means Party Time in Regina

The Gatsby Gala: As we enter the 2020s, there is no better way to celebrate than to throw it back to 1920 with the Gatsby Gala, hosted at the Hotel Saskatchewan. Your ticket to the night includes a three-course plated dinner and an evening of entertainment including a dance and professional photo booth. This party is a dress-up one, so be sure to get a costume with glitz and glam ready for the occasion!

Latin Oscars New Year: For New Years, the Hotel Ramada Plaza is hosting a Latin Oscars New Year’s party, which includes a semi-formal dinner and dance. The theme for the evening is “The Oscars” which means that dressing up is encouraged, and there will be a red carpet, photo booth and more. Kids are welcome at this event, too.

Government House New Year’s Day Celebration: Spend the first day of 2020 at the Government House with their New Year’s Day Celebration. This event has been an annual tradition since 1884 and happens from 1 to 4 pm on January 1. The event features the opportunity to tour the historic house, enjoy some entertainment, and participate in activities such as kids’ crafts and meeting the Lieutenant Governor.

Shannon’s Pub and Grill 1920s Party: Celebrate 2020 by travelling back a century to the 1920s with Shannon’s Pub and Grill 1920s themed New Year’s Eve party. This speakeasy is a costume party that will feature live music, dancing and a champagne toast to ring in the New Year.

Casino Regina’s Revenge of the 80s: Casino Regina is hosting a New Year’s Eve event that will take you back to the 1980s, celebrating all the best music from the decade in a live show. Sing along to music from Cyndi Lauper, Devo, the B-52s and more. Get tickets early to this show, which is sure to be a hit.

Swing into the New Decade in Saskatoon

The Bassment’s New Year’s in New Orleans: Ring in the New Year with a night of live music, dancing, food and drink at The Bassment, Saskatoon’s local spot for jazz. The lineup for the evening includes piano from Dr. Don and the Black Mambas, Zyde-GoGo’s blues music, and street beats from the Crawdaddios. Your ticket to the event also includes dinner, which will feature a New Orleans style meal, complete with corn chowder, chicken and sausage gumbo, southern cornbread and more.

German Cultural Centre Comedy Show: Lighten up this New Year with a comedy show at the German Cultural Centre, which will feature stand-up comedy by Saskatoon comedian Matthew Murray, followed by a live DJ and dancing. Your ticket to the evening also includes a late-night lunch and midnight champagne toast.

Winston’s Game of Zones: Winston’s English Pub and the 21st Street Brewery are hosting a Game of Zones event to celebrate the New Year, which is a double New Year’s Eve party. The first party runs from 6 to 9 p.m. and features English and Irish pints on special, followed by a second party beginning at 9 p.m., which will have 21st Street Brewery's pints on special. Both of their floor levels will be open to celebrate, plus there will be themed drinks and festivities.

Malanka Ukranian New Year: Celebrate the Ukrainian New Year on Saturday, January 11 at Dakota Dunes Casino. The evening will showcase a menu of delicious Ukranian food, a special performance from the Yevshan Ukrainian Folk Ballet Ensemble and music by Ukrainian Zabava band UB. “Malanka” translates to “generous eve” and is the traditional name for the Ukrainian New Year.

The 100th Meridian Tribute to The Tragically Hip: YXE’s Buds on Broadway is hosting a Rockin New Year's Eve with The 100th Meridian, which is a tribute to The Tragically Hip. This event is part of a series of concerts in Western Canada celebrating The Tragically Hip and is sure to deliver a night of great live music.
