With sunny days here to stay, it’s time to get out and make the most of the warmer weather by taking in the city! There’s plenty of outdoor things to do and see in both Saskatoon and Regina, especially if you’re willing to head out of the city for a little day jaunt. Time to pull out your sunglasses, dust off your favourite pair of sandals and enjoy the sun!

Things to do in Regina

Regina Farmers’ Market: The market’s summer season kicks off on May 4 at City Square Plaza, and it’s a perfect opportunity to spend a lazy Saturday browsing local products, enjoying locally made food and treats, and engaging with the community. For a fun afternoon, hit up the market in the morning and grab your favourite lunch items before heading to Victoria Park for a picnic.

Regina Beach & Blue Bird Cafe: It might still be too early for a swim, but at only a 40-minute drive out of the city, this day trip will make you feel like it’s road trip season already! Take a walk around the town, and try the famous fish and chips or a juicy burger at Blue Bird Cafe. Their takeout window will be open for the first two weekends of May, while their full restaurant opens for the season on May long weekend.

Cedar Creek Gardens: Just slightly outside the city you’ll find Cedar Creek, one of Regina’s largest greenhouses. Browse plants and flowers, yard and lawn accessories, and everything you need to start your garden. They also offer beautiful planter workshops, which are a fun way to kick off the warmer months by adding a little extra greenery to your life.

Play outside in Saskatoon

Nature City Festival: From May 21 to 26, the Nature City Festival features six days of getting outside to explore and enjoy Saskatoon’s urban nature. It’s a great event for families with lots of kid-centered workshops and activities, including a keynote speaker on the last day. This annual festival also partners with local restaurants to create their own nature-inspired feature dishes for the week.

Crossmount Cider Company: Just 15 minutes outside the city is Saskatoon’s local cidery, which has its own tasting room and outdoor patio. You’ll be surrounded by lush landscape as you sip on their sweet and crisp cider varieties, and you can pick your favourite one to purchase in one of their take-home bottles too.

Saskatoon Farmers’ Market: Spend the weekend browsing local products or enjoying home made brunch or lunch at the Farmers’ Market. Saskatoon’s River Landing is just steps away if you fancy a walk, or check out the line of little shops and cafes along Sonnenschein Way, including The Knick vintage shop, Sweetfin Poké at Revolve Cafe, and Hen & Chick Studios gift shop.

Putt ’N Bounce Mini Golf: A Saskatoon summer staple, Putt ’N Bounce is oh-so-adorable and makes for a lovely date night, family activity or outing with friends. You can always head into Fuddruckers after too, and cap off the night with one of their delicious homestyle milkshakes or a sweet ice-cream cone.

Regina & Saskatoon: Sky's the Limit!

Warmer weather means time to head out for a walk, rollerblade, or take your bike for its first spin of the season! In Regina, walk, bike or blade around Wascana Lake, along the Wascana Valley Trails, or head 20 minutes out of the city to the White Butte Trails Recreation Site. In Saskatoon, visit the Meewasin Valley trails, and be sure to stop for ice cream at Bus Stop Refreshments. Just 15 minutes outside the city is the lovely Cranberry Flats, perfect for a more intense hike, or a leisurely Sunday afternoon stroll.
